Machine Tool Technology
Associate in Science Machine Tool Technology · Chabot College · 2026-2027 Catalog
Description
The Machine Tool Technology AS degree is designed to train students for a tool and die making career. Graduates are trained in tool and die making, computerized numerical control (CNC) machining, computer-aided manufacturing, computer-aided drafting and design, and are capable of learning new skills with minimal instruction. Students are expected to have an appreciation of precise work and a desire to observe the progression of complex parts. Students use a variety of computer software applications to draw, design, and program CNC machines, and application work focuses on jigs, fixtures, and punch and die work.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon the successful completion of this program, students should be able to:
- demonstrate the expertise needed to fabricate machined parts in a timely and professional manner with minimal supervision.
- demonstrate the expertise needed to create parts, drawings, and assemblies using SolidWorks design software.
