Use Fast Schedule with AI
Ask an AI assistant about programs, requirements, courses and class times, and get answers from Fast Schedule's catalogs and schedules, with links to check them.
Try it now
Open a chat with the instructions already filled in. It works in any assistant that can read web pages.
What the prompt says
I'm a student. Read https://fastschedule.net/skills.md and use Fast Schedule's data, as it describes, to answer my questions about college and university programs, degree requirements, courses and class schedules. Link the Fast Schedule pages you use. Start by asking which school I'm interested in and what I'd like to know.
Get help setting it up for good
Adding Fast Schedule as a connector makes it available in every chat. These open a chat that walks you through it for that app.
Connect it yourself
Fast Schedule is a remote MCP server. It's free and needs no account or sign-in:
https://fastschedule.net/mcp
Claude
Connector (claude.ai and Claude Desktop):
- Open Customize → Connectors (in Settings on some versions).
- Choose Add custom connector, name it Fast Schedule, and paste the URL above. Leave the advanced settings empty.
- In a chat, turn it on from the tools menu if it isn't already.
Or as a skill: download fast-schedule-skill.zip, then in Customize → Skills choose Upload a skill. Skills need code execution turned on.
Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http fast-schedule https://fastschedule.net/mcpmkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/fast-schedule && curl -fsSL https://fastschedule.net/skills.md -o ~/.claude/skills/fast-schedule/SKILL.mdChatGPT
- Open Settings → Apps (called Connectors in some versions) → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
- Choose Create, name it Fast Schedule, paste the URL above, and pick No authentication.
- In a chat, add Fast Schedule from the + menu under Developer mode.
Gemini
The Gemini app doesn't add custom connectors. Use Ask Gemini above, or make a Gem whose instructions are the prompt, so it's ready whenever you need it.
Gemini CLI: add this to ~/.gemini/settings.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"fast-schedule": {
"httpUrl": "https://fastschedule.net/mcp"
}
}
}Other MCP apps
Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and other clients that support remote (HTTP) MCP servers take a config like this:
{
"mcpServers": {
"fast-schedule": {
"url": "https://fastschedule.net/mcp"
}
}
}What you can ask
- "Which intro psychology classes at Sierra transfer to UC?"
- "What do I need for the Psychology AA-T at Las Positas, and which of those classes are offered this fall?"
- "Find ENGL C1000 sections at Sierra on Tuesdays and Thursdays after 10am with open seats."
- "Compare computer science degrees at Chabot and UC Irvine."
- "What are the prerequisites for COMPSCI 161 at UC Irvine?"
For developers
The tools are list_schools, search_courses, get_course, search_programs, get_program and find_sections, served statelessly over Streamable HTTP with JSON responses. The same data is published as static files: start with skills.md or llms.txt.
