# English (Minor) UC Irvine · 2026-2027 Catalog · Department: Department of English Source: https://catalogue.uci.edu/schoolofhumanities/departmentofenglish/english_minor/ The English minor offers students in other majors an opportunity to study the global literatures written in English—British and American, African, Asian and Australasian—from historical, cultural, and theoretical perspectives. It attends to literary forms, their evolution and traditions, while emphasizing the diversity of literature’s motives, occasions, influences and effects. Along with the considerable pleasure of reading the myriad expressions of literary art in English, what humanity has to say about itself over centuries and continents, the minor provides a substantial education in critical analysis and argument. ### Requirements Seven courses (28 units) are required for the minor. | Course | Title | Units | | --- | --- | --- | | **A.
