**Minimum Units Required:** 17.5 units

The Sound Production Specialist certificate teaches the craft and techniques of sound recording. Students will learn the intricacies of recording hardware and software and will work in a hands-on environment and learn how to operate the equipment used in recording sound. Students are prepared for entry-level positions at recording studios, video production, game audio, sound reinforcement companies, mobile on-site music recording companies, and radio production facilities.

### Program Learning Outcomes

-   Analyze/compose a musical recording using a variety of technical skills.

-   Efficiently demonstrate the techniques and the application of skills needed to set up a recording session for instrumental and vocal performance.

-   Manipulate an audio recording project.

-   Recognize and operate basic software synthesizers, drum machines, and sampler instruments.
