      "markdown": "**Minimum Units Required:** 60.0 units\n\nThis program offers core and selective courses which provide the student with a base of knowledge and proficiencies in the area of corrections. The program operates with the cooperation and participation of local corrections agencies. All instructors in the program have experience in the corrections field. Courses are scheduled both day and evening to accommodate full-time or part-time students seeking to acquire or upgrade skills in the corrections field. The Associate in Science can be obtained upon completion of the 30-unit major, general education requirements, and electives as needed to complete a minimum of 60 units. All courses in the major must be completed with a minimum grade of C or P if taken on a Pass/No Pass basis.\n\n### Program Learning Outcomes\n\n-   Demonstrate an understanding of the American Criminal Justice system and the scope of responsibilities of the various local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies beginning with arrest through parole.\n\n-   Describe the system's responsibilities to the community, factors in crime causation, the social implications of crime and communication barriers between the system and the community.\n\n-   Articulate the system's objectives, the crime problem, and role expectations of criminal justice personnel, and describe the various agencies and each subsystem within the system.\n\n### Program Requirements"
