Through working from observation and imagination as the backbone of the curriculum, students learn about medium, form, and content. The principal component of the program is studio activity, and students explore studio work that demonstrates individual expression, critical thinking, and an awareness of historical and contemporary art making. Critical dialogue and rigorous expectations about craftsmanship and studio best practices support work toward an artistic vision.\n\n#### Program Learning Outcomes\n\nUpon the successful completion of this program, students should be able to:\n\n1. Gain functional competence with principles of visual organization, including the ability to work with visual elements in two and three dimensions; color theory and its applications; and drawing.\n2. Present work that demonstrates perceptual acuity, conceptual understanding, and technical facility at a professional entry level in their chosen field(s).\n3. Become familiar with the historical achievements, current major issues, processes, and directions of their field(s).\n4. Be afforded opportunities to exhibit their work and to experience and participate in critiques and discussions of their work and the work of others."
