Contemporary environmental issues are examined from a holistic perspective, including the science of ecological relationships in nature, but emphasizing also the political, social, economic, and cultural context in which environmental issues arise. Curriculum emphasizes sustainability, environmental justice, and the wisdom of all global citizens to combat environmental demise and work towards a better future for all. Students can select from a variety of elective classes based on their interest in this interdisciplinary field. Selection of electives may also be steered by articulation agreements with schools students plan to transfer to.\n\n#### Program Learning Outcomes\n\nUpon the successful completion of this program, students should be able to:\n\n1. illustrate how human history has shaped our relationship to the environment\n2. describe how human behavior, including our production of energy and use of natural resources, affects the environment and processes in the earth's systems."
